Introduction

Core Values

We believe the young child is…

  • a gift from God (Psalm 127:30) who learns best about God’s world through experimentation and exploration.
  • a unique and special child of God whose self-esteem and individuality is celebrated.

We believe early childhood education…

  • provides a warm and loving Christ-centered environment where children can develop to their fullest potential.
  • is an integral part of congregational mission and ministry.
  • is a significant avenue for congregational mission outreach.
  • is a ministry to families with young children.
  • is a joint ministry that involves the congregation, the community, the staff, the family, and the child

Philosophy Statement

Young children are unique creations of God who bring a variety of experiences to their first participation in a group setting.

Therefore, in order to best meet the needs of the young children enrolled in the Early Learning Center of Glendale Lutheran Church, we strive to:

  • provide a Christ-centered environment where children will hear that Jesus loves them.
  • create a fun, safe, and secure place where young children will experience developmentally-appropriate activities.
  • provide children opportunities for growth in all aspects of development.

Jesus expressed His love and care for children in Mark10:14-16: “Let the little children come to me….Then he took the children in His arms…and blessed them.”

Our ELC teachers are dedicated to taking your children in their arms and blessing them with a positive experience.

Session Description

During a typical Early Learning Center day, the children will:

  • hear that Jesus loves them and experience that love through the actions of adults around them.
  • experience a theme-based curriculum which integrates school-readiness skills.
  • have ample time to sing, pretend, and explore their world.
  • practice interacting with their peers.
  • develop body awareness and motor skills.
  • run and play in the gym and on the playground.
