Group Ministry

MUSIC MINISTRY:

"Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs" (Psalm 100:2).

Jane Robinson is the director of the Festival Choir and of smaller ensembles, including Men's and Women's choral groups, soloists, duets, quartets, and instrumentalists. Joan Schlichter serves as coordinator and recruiter and prepares the schedule of special music.

Rejoice! is the children's choir for students in grades 1-5. The choir meets every Wednesday from 4-5:15 p.m. under the direction of Jane Robinson.

Youth Handbells choir is for all youth in grades 6-12. They practices on Wednesdays from 5:15-5:45 p.m. under the direction of Jane Robinson.

Brass Choir participates in festival services and others as needed.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY: All women of Glendale Lutheran Church are part of Women's Ministry.

This ministry includes the LWML, women's Bible studies and an annual retreat usually in October.

DEACON'S MINISTRY:

Twenty-seven men and women are involved in this ministry of prayer and personal contact. Each deacon is assigned between three and  twelve fellow members for whom they regularly pray and serve in a variety of ways.  More deacons are always needed.  Please contact Bill Lubben if interested in serving through the Deacon Ministry.

WORSHIP MINISTRY:

Acolytes - are 6th through 8th graders who light the altar candles for Sunday services.

Greeters - Welcome worshippers and visitors at each Sunday service.

Lay Readers - Read Scripture at worship services.

Ushers - Greet worshippers, distribute bulletins and assist in helping services to run smoothly.

Worship Planning Group - This group seeks to plan the musical aspects of worship, both choral and instrumental, as well as other nuances for particular Sundays. Currently, this group includes Charlotte Moret, Beth Nicolaus, Tracey Ortstadt, Joan Schlichter, Al Grimm, Lindsay Varns and Pastor Carter.

Leadership Council - Our Governing Board is called the LEADERSHIP COUNCIL, comprised of seven persons: Krissa Lubben, president; Dorrie Krueger, vice president of finance; Josh Boehme, secretary; Greg Frimel, treasurer; John Steele, vice president of personnel; Mimi Schaefer, CCLS preschool; and Mike Toney, property management. We also have three elected elders: Mike Becker, chairman, Bob Jacobson and Mark Krueger.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY:

Sunday:
  • 9:30 a.m.   Two Bible study options are available for adults on Sunday mornings in the Family Life Center and in Room 211.  See the "Glimpses of Glendale" newsletter for more information on the current topics.
Tuesday:
  • 9:00 a.m. Bible Study in the Family Life Center. Pastor Carter leads a discussion on the lessons for the coming Sunday.
  • 9:15 a.m.  Women's Morning Bible Study meets in Room 211 from 9:15-11 a.m. September-May.   The current study is on Ray Vanderlaan's "The Path to the Cross."  Contact Carol Froesel for more information.
Thursday:
  • 7:00 p.m. Women's Evening Bible Study meets on the first and third Thursday at 7 p.m. at church in Room 214.  Currently, the group is studying Max Lucado's "Outlive Your Life: You were made to make a difference."   Contact Cathie Albers for more information. This group meets from September-May.
